"True Color" MODIS
Image of the day
North Western Mediterranean Sea

North Western Mediterranean
Since more than a century, the North Western Mediterranean area is the "playfield" of the Laboratoire d'Oceanographie de Villefranche (LOV). In a very small oceanic region, several amazing oceanographic process occur recurrently. Remote sensing ocean color (an historical speciality of LOV ) shows as wonderful is this region from oceanographic point of view.
Processing
This picture is a "true color" (i.e. blending of three RGB channels) obtained daily from MODIS sensor on AQUA spacecraft. Most of the process is derived by the amazing Norman Kuring job in creating Featured Image for NASA Ocean Color Web site (see here for details). Processing was adapted by Fabrizio D'Ortenzio, with the enthusiastic moral support of Julia Uitz.
